Daily versus Weekly blogging?

I have been trying over the last few months to write a short blog here very day - to get it posted on Google+ amongst other places to hopefully encourage more readers to visit my blog and my website!

Thank you to all of you who do read and hopefully find my blogs both entertaining and informative!

As an experiment I am going to post my daily blog on my own website - http://www.multiheat-energysystems.co.uk/blog - where I will focus much more on our product and what infrared heating is all about!

Here, I will still try and blog every day, and at least weekly, but will focus much more on running the business and how I fit that into into my busy day - what with my consulting business, my farm business and my North Devon networking!

I hope that works for you!

Thankyou!

I hope you survived the winds!

Sunday afternoon here on the farm we spent a ages out making sure that the polytunnel was secure, that the animals all had access to shelter - the girl goats were put away for the night early, the llamas were given extra hay so they didn't have to go out for food!

As it turned out there was no wind damage, all the animals were in the right place - dry as well although the feed buckets were full of water - the fields are a big puddle!

So, thankfully we survived - just the rest of the winter to go now!

Did you survive with minimal damage?

A networking lunch! Today is the day!

Here in North Devon we have many breakfast clubs, clubs that meet after work but very few that meet during the working day!

Plenty of arguments that both breakfast and evening meetings help you maximise your working day, but at the same time they get in the way of your day to day life and family/home activities. That's why I prefer to network during the day and during working hours, after all it is work isn't it!

Today I am going to the www.ndba.org.uk lunch at the Chichester Arms in Bishops Tawton! It starts around 12pm and finishes around 2pm, an extended lunch but worth the effort. There are some great people there and we regularly get new people turning up!

If you are in North Devon you may want to add it to your list of networking events to go to!

It's still not too late to enter one of their 2013 awards - full details can be found HERE!

Discounts - what is wrong with discounts?

As a company we set our own recommended prices for our products - we have quite a few resellers and it helps us all sell at the same price.

However, we do offer discounts, from a simple 10% for just asking for a brochure, to 25% if you are buying 10 or more panels to heat your own home! We occasionally offer special discounts or reduced prices on stock not moving as quickly as we would like or to introduce a new product to the market!

We also offer twitter & facebook users 10% for following or liking us!

We do not sell giving a discount all the time, most of our sales are sold through our website at full price, the discounts are there to encourage those that have shown an interest in us and our product to go one step further and to buy from us!

Do you offer discounts - if so when & why?

Taking time out to get some exercise!

I am going to sneak out of the office around 3pm for a game of racketball and some exercise!

Shhhh, don't tell anyone!

All of you who work for yourself know how difficult it is to get time for yourself - it is important as without good health you will not function 100% - so I try and make sure I get that time!

Normally, I like to make it on a Friday afternoon, there is something about POETS day that sort of helps justify leaving early, but this Friday we have the North Devon Business Alliance business networking lunch, so Wednesday it is!

My office and telephone will be left in the capable hands of Jess, Zoe, Stacey & Mark of B My Office!

Do you get time for yourself during the working week?

50 watts per square metre of floor space!

Assuming that your property (residential or commercial) has been insulated to current modern standards then you will need around 50 watts per square metre of floor space to keep your room/property heated using infrared heating panels!

So, for a room about 12 square metres you need just 600 watts of power to keep the room warm!

All of the energy from the panel needs to come down into the room for this calculation to work, so sticking the panel on a wall will require a bit more power (yes, fit it on the ceiling to get maximum efficiency), got a lot of windows, you may also need more power (infrared will go through glass), always keep the door/window open letting in cold air, you might want to think about having a bit more power!

Call us to discuss your situation on 01237 451759 or contact us via our website www.multiheat-energysystems.co.uk - we will be more than happy to have a chat with you!

It's a Sunday & I am in the office!

Why? Well there are certain things you need to do on your computer that interrupts normal work routines, upgrading software is one of them. To help spread the work load between home and office I have decided to install Microsoft 365!

That is a lot of stuff to download!

And then set up - I have my laptop ready with the software, just doing the desktop and then to figure out how to link up with my iPad - easy? For some maybe, but not me, as I get older I tend to find this stuff gets my brain all stirred up!

Still, I'm having a go!

As the colder days arrive and nights draw in there is less work to do outside on the farm and lots of spare time and so the time to make a concerted effort in promoting our business is a good use of time, but we have to have the tools!

What do you do in your spare time during the winter months?

It looks like a TV - but it isn't, it's a heater!

Our black glass infrared heating panels do look like a TV & look quite smart in an office or contemporary living room!

This is an 800w heater and fixed to the wall like this will heat a space of about 12 square metres (16 sq metres if fixed to the ceiling but it wouldn't look as good up there)!

Bathroom mirror - no wait it's a heater!

Small rooms are always difficult to heat - piddly little radiator that does no more than keep the towel dry - but these stylish infrared panel heaters are perfect for fitting above the sink.

Using just 400w of power they will heat most small bathrooms (shower rooms, downstairs loo or a utility room) - that's my toothbrush by the way - they don't steam up either!

Some people just don't get it - try it for 30 days!

Infrared heating is different, it is not the same as traditional convector heating!

We all know that convector heating makes the air warm, and the movement of air around the room keeps the room nice and cosy. The ambient temperature can be set at 21 degrees centigrade and we get that nice warm feeling!

Infrared heating is different - why? Because the air is the last thing that is warmed up, not the first!

As a company we do appreciate that some people prefer the warm air type of heating and that infrared heating doesn't suit everyone, so we offer a 30 day money back guarantee - buy a panel, try it for 30 days and if you do not like it, send it back in its original packaging and we will give you your money back - the only cost to you is the return postage (about £10)!

We don't get many panels back and we are sure you will like the feel of infrared heating!

Heating in the ceiling....but surely?

Infrared panel heaters are ideal for putting in the ceiling!

The above picture shows one of our 350w panel heaters fitting neatly in a suspended ceiling arrangement. We have heated office spaces upwards of 400 square metres using these panels, and one happy customer saved over £1,000 on the electricity bill over the last winter quarter!

Check out our website www.multiheat-energysystems.co.uk for more information!

A day of cutting grass!

Around here grass cutting is never ending!

We have 12 acres split into 3 areas, the far field which has 4 small enclosures for our stud male llamas, and a large field for our gelded boys to play in. We have the near field which has two small enclosures - the bongo field (a neighbour parks her bongo just inside the gate) which has some native trees growing and will one day be a small wood copse, the other enclosure is the lambs field and new orchard, and a large area for mums & cria llamas to play!

The third area is the area by the house, we have the summer house & lawn, we have a winter paddock (mums & cria live here in the winter, more shelter), we have a second paddock split into two which can be used for a mum and her newborn cria, we have a pond paddock where mums and babies get to play before being sent out into the big field. We also have a small shrubbery area where the chickens free range, we have an established smal orchard area and a small wood area for wildlife to live.

They all have plenty of grass!

The llamas keep about two thirds of their fields pretty trim, but they won't eat the grass in the toilet areas, so that needs cutting! Lambs have gone and none due until the spring, so that needs cutting! The bongo field always needs cutting until the trees take over! The areas/paddocks near the house need doing regularly too!

As for the grass not growing in the autumn, it still is here in North Devon, I'm ready for it to stop!

I got a lot done today and if we have a dry night - no dew or rain - I'll have a go at some more tomorrow!

What are you up to this weekend?

Friday 11 October 2013

Oh, I am so unfit!

About a year ago I stopped playing racketball (like squash but a bit different) as I had an injury to my foot - plantar fasciitis - and while the problem is manageable it has never completely gone but as a result I have just got unfit.

I work outside at weekends and get plenty of exercise but to run around on a squash court for 40 minutes is no longer easy but it is time to give it another go as I felt an awful lot better when I was fit, so today we are heading back to the squash court!

I am looking forward to it but at the same time know that I will suffer tomorrow!

No pain, no gain they say though!

Thursday 10 October 2013

It's turned chilly!

Only 12 degrees centigrade in my office first thing!

Turned my 600w infrared heating panel on today and there is a nice feeling of warmth - plenty to be sat at my office desk and tap away on the keyboard without gloves!

My panel uses about a unit of electricity every two hours and will be on for about 6 hours today - a cost of about 36 pence - not bad to keep me warm whilst working!

My Multiheat infrared heating panel is about 4 years old now and during the cold months is on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, while this time of year it is turned on as and when needed. Am really pleased with mine!

Why not try one - not sure? Get in touch and ask about our 30 day money back guarantee!

18% more infrared!

The manufacturer of our infrared heating panels, Infrapower, asked Seibersdorf Laboratories of Austria to test our panel against the European brand leader. The result: Infrapower panels performed 18% better!

The most important thing for an infrared panel is that it produces the highest possible percentage of infrared (and the lowest possible percentage of normal convectional heating).

Infrapower infrared heating panels do just that!

New infrared technology developed in Austria!

The manufacturer of our panels - Infrapower - had been working on a completely new technology which was introduced towards the end of the 2012/13 season. Since then they have looked at all of the data and have improved further for the coming 2013/14 winter season.

Infrapower have worked together with Austrian/German technicians and using a highly recognised Austrian laboratory specialising in improving and testing similar appliances to Infrapowers (Seibersdorf Laboratories) which independently tested all of the steps.

Infrapower and one of their Japanese suppliers have found a way to combine highest carbon nickel grade with the newest conductor technology in the market (used for all quality touch-pads for example and also the best USA/German/Japanese made photovoltaic modules). This technology provides for the following advantages:-

  • high surface temperature with the lowest power consumption
  • equal surface temperature over the whole surface
  • highest possible output of infrared
  • safe and very durable

Safety & security of our infrared heating panels

Our infrared heating panels, manufactured by Infrapower, have five (5) built in security sensors to protect the panel from overheating! The structure of the infrared heating panel (the panel is protected on the front and the back by aluminium plates) guarantees 100% PE protection.

Infrapower infrared heating panels are CE-compliant and TUV GS certified.

The Research Centre Seibersdorf Laboratories confirmed a report that the radiation of Infrapower infrared-heaters is far below the international threshold for effects of infrared radiation on the skin or eyes.

The panels are IP44 rated (dustproof and splashproof).

A healthy indoor climate - dust free maybe?

You should see my house - everything is covered in dust.

The dogs are the worst offenders, creating dust everywhere!

If you suffer from asthma or a respiratory problem then dust is an issue, and this is made worse when your heating system moves air around the room(s). Because it is not just the air that moves - it is the dust that moves too!

There is a solution, infrared heating, but of course you knew that!

Quality versus price!

Yesterday I was asked why our products are considerably less expensive than a competitor & therefore were our products lacking in quality!

Our products are designed in Austria who collaborate with some Japanese technicians to ensure that the quality of our products is right up there with the best! In fact they sent one of the panels to an in dependant testing centre to compare them directly against the competition and in the test our panels produced 18% more infrared than the competitor!

The look and feel of our glass panels also exude quality, and our standard range look really good but are designed to blend into the surroundings so as not to be seen!

Quality is not compromised!

Our range is a lot smaller than our competitors, and if you want fancy colours, circular panels, ball shaped panels then our competitors are the place to go! Want something straightforward & functional, then we can help at a very affordable price!

We offer a 30 day money back guarantee also - check out one of our panels for 30 days and if you are not impressed send it back (only cost to you is return postage) and we will refund the cost in full! We rarely get our panels back!

Go on, try one today, what have you got to lose - maybe some reduction in your electricity bill ;-)

Working away from the office!

The wonders of modern technology means that nowadays no one actually needs to know that you are away from the office!

Access to the internet, mobile communications, laptop computers, are all so readily accessible that you are able to perform the same pretty much wherever you are!

Having said that, some hotels make you pay for poor quality access to the internet (my current hotel has finally decided to give free access and the quality has improved significantly), remembering passwords can be a challenge if you do not travel regularly, and accessing files on your PC can be a problem (this shouldn't be a problem as there are products like Dropbox to make things accessible).

The next two days I am 700 miles away from my office and so far, so good things are happening seamlessly!

Can you recommend anything to make it even more seamless?

Tuesday 1 October 2013

We are off away on a business trip!

I have been here in North Devon for nearly 11 years now, and as time goes by I lose my interest in travelling! In corporate life I have been lucky to travel to many parts of the world, Nigeria in Africa, Singapore & Malaysia in the Far East, Colombia in South America, Mexico & the USA to name just a few! Day trips to many European destinations & frequent trips around the UK!

Holidays to Malta, to Greece, Spain & Tunisia all add to the many countries I have visited but now I find a trip down to Exeter, just over an hours drive away, just doesn't have the excitement it once did!

Today though, I am off up to Aberdeen for a few days!

It's a business trip & I have a busy schedule - as well as a ToDo list as long as my arm, I also have to keep up with the day to day stuff that needs to happen in my office!

Once upon a time I used to really enjoy this, now I find it a chore!

Still, it helps to pay the bills I guess!
