Kids go back to school next week!

My kids have grown up and have long fled the family nest, but we have grandkids and grandkid number one is staying with us this week.

It has meant a couple of things - firstly, I have to get my work done in less hours, as I am expected to spend time with him to keep him occupied! It has got me out of the office with a chance to relax and just think about things, a time where occasionally you get that flash of inspiration. It didn't happen this time, but I was able to put a few things into order!

We got to spend the afternoon at Westward Ho! beach on Wednesday and very dapper does the grandkid look with his body board - I looked on from the beach as he had fun jumping in and out of the waves - he wants to go again this week before he heads home!

Working for yourself has trials and tribulations, but having the ability to nip out for a couple of hours to the beach, or to the local swimming pool as we did yesterday is one of the tribulations.

Back to the coalface today, a few things to get done, a networking lunch to go to, back to the office, a few more things to get done, and then it's the weekend. The grandkid goes back home Monday next week, life will return to normal & the kids go back to school.

Phew!

A bank holiday weekend will soon be over!

As we enter the final phases of the summer holidays it is time to start thinking about the autumn season coming up! At least from a business perspective!

From a personal perspective, I plan to enjoy this weekend & most of next week (we have grandkids coming to stay), but in the back of my mind it is time to start planning for the upcoming expected surge in business as customers return to the projects that are ongoing and finally decide that they really do need to get on and complete them before the cold weather returns!

Before we get there though we have decided to have a sale of our standard infrared heating panels:-

As well as the three sizes in the photo (60cm * 60cm, 90cm * 60cm & 120cm * 60cm) we also have a 30cm * 90cm panel and we are offering 25% off the RRP on our standard white carbon fibre infrared heating panels over the bank holiday. Just enter the code bankholiday25 in our webshop to claim your discount.
The offer will run out at midnight on 1st September, so be quick if you are tempted to get a head start.

Our 30 day moneyback guarantee still applies - If you are not happy with your infrared heating panel or feel that it is not heating the room satisfactorily, please get in touch with us, we may be able to offer some advice about programming or positioning of the heater.

Did I tell you we breed llamas?

Well, indeed we do - here is Wispa (ears up) & Bella (ears down) coming to see what all the fuss is about!

Our offices are situated on a 12 acre smallholding where llamas & pygmy goats live & breed - it's a very relaxed atmosphere working around here!

Today we went to the Holsworthy, North Devon agricultural show and had a few good chats about llamas - it sure makes a change to talking about infrared heating panels!

Superfast satellite broadband!

Today, all being well, we are having satellite broadband installed!

My biggest gripe about my broadband at the moment isn't the 2Mps download speed but the paltry 0.1 Mps upload speed. Despite the major local exchanges being upgraded to fibre optic and improving speeds in the towns out here in the sticks where we are over 2 miles away from the nearest rural exchange and forecasts of improvements in speeds are negligible.

We are a good two years away from any major improvement so it is time to sign up a two year deal with a satellite provider and today we get it installed. I am looking forward to 20Mps download speed but even more exciting is the upload speed of 2Mps. Even if we get half of that I will be really pleased.

This means that when I am sending customers brochures (in readable PDF format) I haven't got to wait for them to be uploaded. When I send large datafiles (some in excess of 250Mb) I haven't got to find something to do for 40 minutes while the system uploads it. At least that is what I am hoping.

I'll keep you posted whether I do get those sort of speeds!

What do you get?

Kingdom Living - a charity recommends the use of infrared heating panels

“We have installed Multiheat’s panels throughout our bungalow and can honestly commend their use by other home-owners. We intend to install these panels in the bungalows which our charity Kingdom Living intends to purchase and adapt and rent out to families having a member with a complex medical neuro-degenerative disorder. Kingdom Living Charity.

Read the details about why this charity chose infrared heating panels opposed to other forms of heating in this nice letter from Kingdom Living testimonial. (in PDF format).

Glass infrared heaters!

Why glass?

Infrared is part of the light spectrum and just as light passes through glass so does the infrared!

Unlike our standard panels which have an aluminium frame our glass infrared heating panels have a highly polished surface, the corners are gently rounded, and the surface is plain and smooth with no lights or switches to spoil the modern clean lines. The glass surface is very slim with hidden framework bars on the reverse, which hold the panel away from the wall, thus giving the illusion that the heater is floating on the wall. In all it is only 2.5cm deep.

We do white glass, black glass & of course mirror finish glass panels!

Don't forget that we offer a 30 day money back guarantee! If you decide infrared heating is not for you, return the panel to us within 30 days in its original packaging and we will refund your money in full (the only costs to you is the return postage)!

Maintenance? What maintenance?

One of the benefits of using far infrared heating panels is the fact that they do not need maintaining!

That's good isn't it! Gas, oil, biomass & other boilers all need to have an annual cleanout.

Over a 10 year period that works out to be quite a big saving!

A testimonial!

I love a good testimonial - here's one that we received last year!

350w far infrared heating panel!
“I absolutely love my panel. It’s near my desk so is brilliant for those cold early mornings. It feels like I’m abroad and gets me to a perfect temperature quickly without making the room uncomfortable with hot air. When I’m working with others they always comment on how great it feels. The radiator is on just to keep it ticking over. Definitely planning on expanding my collection. Thank you.” N

Would you like a quote?

There are certain bits of information that we need to be able to give you a quote - simple things like this:-

  • What size is your room?
    • length & breadth
    • ceiling height
  • Will you be fitting the panel to the ceiling or on the wall?
  • Is your house of modern construction & well insulated?
  • Does the room have a large expanse of windows?
To give you a quote for the right size of panel and the price that is all we need.

We can then start talking about how you want to control the panel (thermostat/timers etc...) and who you are going to get to fit the panel (electrician/diy) and give you guidance and if necessary the prices of your infrared heating panel!

If you have a larger project we will need this information for each room that you require an infrared heating panel.

We do not do house visits, we are an internet based company, but we can find you a local electrician who will visit and give you advice on installation and if appropriate bring along a panel for you to see!

You can call us on 01237 451759

What to do when you have a power outage?

Today we have been advised by Western Power that we will have no power between 10am & 1pm, so what to do?

Firstly, I have advised people through our facebook page & our twitter account of the fact. secondly, I have advised our telephone answering service so that they can advise callers we may be slow in responding.

I have given staff the morning off!

I am now blogging about it to spread the word further!

What else should I do, or in a few minutes should have done :-)

I'll be back this afternoon.

Our panels are IP54 rated - what does that mean?

Our standard white infrared heating panels are IP54 rated for use in bathrooms, we suggest the panel is fitted to the ceiling away from the bath or shower but above where you stand to dry, ideally the heater should have its own timer or programmer so that the heating can be on at a lower temperature throughout the day, this will ensure a general all round warmth and comfort.

IP54 (IP rating is for protection of persons and protection against equipment -the 5 means that it is protected against entry of dust in sufficient quantity to interfere with satisfactory operation of the equipment - the 4 means that it is protected against splashing and spraying of water from all practicable directions.)

We can also supply a programmer to control just one or a number of heating panels in a zone, these programmers allow you the flexibility and control of your daily heating needs to help avoid wasting energy. Please discuss your requirements with your electrician, as there are a range of other controllers available from a very simple timer switch to a complex home electrics programmer.

As every home and situation is different we are happy to liaise with you and discuss your heating needs, we do not fit the heaters, this must be done by a suitably qualified electrician. We have tried to provide you with as much information as possible on the website and we are always happy to talk to our customers by phone, we would much rather you discuss your needs with us and choose the correct size heater than be disappointed next winter!

Home owners are becoming far more aware of energy usage

Finding ways to reduce energy consumption and create a more efficient home, simple ideas like loft or wall insulation can produce some excellent savings.

Traditional methods of heating with boilers and radiators are expensive and time consuming to install, radiators are often fitted where it is most convenient for the plumber rather than considering the layout and furnishings of the room, and usually one single programmer will control the whole central heating  system, so even if one room is in use the whole house must be heated, causing a huge waste in energy.

An awareness of energy efficiency has brought about changes in our thought processes and habits.

Infrared heaters have been in use in Germany, Austria and The Netherlands for more than ten years, these countries have always been far more environmentally aware and ahead of others, this infrared technology is now widely available in the UK to home owners wishing to reduce their electricity consumption.

Our standard white panels are ideally suited to homes, whether new build properties, retro fitting or extensions, the white colour is designed for use on domestic ceilings, the power levels are generally suitable for one panel per room of the house.

Installation is required by a competent electrician who can fit the panels along with room thermostats or timers for even greater efficiency.

If you are renovating an older property with larger rooms, high ceilings or a damp problem please talk to us before ordering or position more smaller panels to best advantage, cold uninsulated properties will need more power to retain warmth, this applies to any heating method.

Infrared heating panels can help reduce damp!

A topical point in this very damp weather!

Infrared heating panels send out rays that are absorbed by the infrastructure of the room they are in. The walls and the floor are the main recipients. They themselves get warm and radiate that warmth back into the room giving you that feeling of all round warmth.

With the walls & floor being kept warm by your infrared heating panels, any damp that may be there is driven back!

Of course you get the benefit of warmth too!

And another week moves swiftly by!

And haven't we accomplished a lot this week!

Our biggest thing ticked off our ToDo list was getting our website up & running.

We were in need a of a new website as we really needed a new webshop - our old webshop just couldn't keep up with the way our thoughts & thinking went so it had to go!

We also allow ourselves to launch new products which we will be aiming to do at the start of the new heating season (end of September)!

Blooming viruses!

Don't you hate them!

I'm not talking about the type that makes your nose run or gives you a temperature, I'm talking about the ones that try and do nasty stuff to your computers.

Yesterday, with one of my other hats on I was trying to write a blog - well, I didn't just try, I actually wrote one - and when it posted it seemed to attract a virus that made the site appear to contain a virus when people tried to look at it.

Now, I hope that anyone who did look at it had their anti-virus software up to date - £60 per annum is a small price to pay to ensure that these viruses get blocked - my PC was protected and the virus was blocked.

If you pay several hundred pounds for a computer & even more for software it is a MUST to have anti-virus protection!
