Working for yourself, at least for me, means cutting back on holidays!
When I was employed I had to take 4 weeks plus public holidays off per year and we often had two holidays, a week in the sun and a week at home catching up on decorating or some other chore. The other days were added to weekends or used as bridging days to get as many long weekends in as possible.
Having been self employed for 11 years now those days seem long gone, but it is important to try and get away and to forget about work (OK, maybe to take some with you, but to at least get away from the office). Our last holiday was over three years ago - a proper holiday being defined as anything longer than a week - but at the end of next week we are off on holiday, we are heading off to an airport and flying off for a seven day sunshine holiday!
Woohoo!
It'll be 2016 before the next one, so I am going to make the most of it!

Award judging!
Today is the day that we - that is me & my fellow judges - sit down and judge some of the NDBA.org.uk awards!
For each category we will be whittling the entrants down to the final 3!
As I was nominated for the online networker of the year award that was supposed to be left to a public vote, that is one award I won't be having any impact on! It was a shame that the voting was pulled early as it was such a brilliant idea & one that I have seen being successful elsewhere! It will be interesting to see how the judges decide to determine this one!
There are some great entries in all of the award categories, so good luck everyone!

Half term, grandkids & work!
The grandkids went home Saturday!
They stayed a best part of a week, and with gran looking after one & me - gramps - looking after the other most days it was tough to get a full days work done. However, we managed to get most things done and Monday has come around and the ToDo list is as long as you like!
Luckily, most of my customers must have had a similar experience as it was reasonably quiet but we still managed to have a near record week of orders coming in - hence the ToDo list being long!
Working from home does allow you flexibility and whilst it is always difficult to take a proper holiday it is relatively easy to take a few hours off some days!
How do you cope?

If you like - you can vote for me HERE!
