Impact of buildings on the environment - EPC gives you this too!

Following on from yesterdays blog about EPC there is also a section on the impact of buildings on the environment!

One of the biggest contributors to global warming (climate change) is carbon dioxide. The energy we use for heating, lighting and power in homes produces over a quarter of the UK carbon emissions.

The average household causes about 6 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.

3 years ago my house was at 45 points in band E (39 to 54 points) with a potential to improve to 64 points and band D (55 to 68 points) and with the latest addition to my house we have actually managed to get to 92 points which gets me in band A (92 plus points) - just!

What have I had done - I have had a biomass boiler put in that replaces my oil fired Rayburn!

What can you do to improve your impact on the environment!
