Warm sun, cold days, that's infrared!

For a while this morning the sun shone - it's a chilly 2 degrees C outside, but when the sun comes out you can feel its warmth on your back - that is the natural infrared rays from the sun providing you with warmth!

That's the type of feeling that infrared heating gives you indoors, a gentle feeling of warmth even though the ambient temperature is quite low.

As with the sun, let it shine long enough and the temperature rises!

Heat rises?

When you use a convector heating system (that can be wet radiator systems as well as electric radiators, or even fan heaters) the system works because you heat the air as it goes passed the radiator, the warm air rises and is replaced by cooling air falling, which itself is warmed up and rises and so the cycle goes on!

With this from of heating the warmest place in the room is right next to the ceiling!

Infrared heating is different, because it heats the objects in the room, including the floor, the walls and the furniture, and the people. You are heated directly by the infrared, and you are therefore the warmest place in the room, not the ceiling!

Yes, you need electricity!

When we are at shows we often get asked how our infrared heating panels work!

Yes, it really is that simple, you can put a 13 amp plug on the end of the lead and plug them in!

No, they are not solar panels - we are on the other side of the meter - once you generate electricity you have to figure out a way to use it as efficiently as possible - infrared heaters are efficient.

A 600w panel will heat a room of about 12 square metres - typically you will need a two kilowatt convector heater to heat the same space! Two kilowatts is 2000 watts or over 3 times  as much power!

Check out our website to see how that makes a difference to your running costs!
